Sauganash To DC 24 Trip Info Meeting

Preparations for our Sauganash to DC 2024 class trip are developing smoothly. Our first fundraising event was record-breaking. Our volunteers are organized, motivated, and creative. Together, we are driven to maximize our fundraising efforts to increase the accessibility of this amazing experience for all our students.

In addition to our fundraising event at Dakota 94 tomorrow night, we hope that you will join us for our informational meeting. This meeting will kick off signups for the trip. I will be there. Our Worldstrides representative, Baylee, will be there. And Sarah Datz (current chairperson) and a couple 8th grade students fresh off this year’s trip will join us as well. This will be a great opportunity to answer any questions that you may have.

Here are some things that I’ve learned since I last emailed you:

First off, the price of the trip is higher than we expected. Here is the total price of the trip this year:

• $1,730 Per student – Quad occupancy
• $1,990 Per adult – Double occupancy

We will request that Baylee shares an overview of these costs prior to our meeting on 10/12. We also attempted to negotiate lower. The bottomline is that inflation has driven prices up and there’s no way to lessen the cost without reducing the quality of the experience. So, we will just have to fundraise as much as we can.

That said, there is a $100 early-bird discount available to anyone who books the trip within 48 hours of the October 12th meeting. That brings the price down to $1630 per student. Installment plans are available and $49 is all that is due at the time of booking.

Our volunteers are hard at work brainstorming and organizing fundraising opportunities and events to make this experience more affordable. We want to increase accessibility for students and lessen the financial burden on families. That is the point of our efforts. Every dollar that we raise is refunded to participants some time AFTER our class trip.
